Air abrasion is a high-powered technology used in place of the more traditional dentist’s drill. It does away with the harsh sounds of the drill, always a source of anxiety for nervous dental patients.

Compressed air sprays a granular substance onto the tooth which removes any damaged parts, and makes room for a Centennial dental treatment, like placing a crown or filling a cavity. Measures are taken to prevent any harm being done to surrounding teeth, and the patient wears protective eye goggles.

Air abrasion can also remove any old fillings, and is sometimes used to improve the appearance of stained teeth.
